Check Fraud and Risk Mitigation

Session Description:

Every FI lives with the risk of check fraud. This session will discuss the various types of fraud, and ways to mitigate the risk of accepting and paying checks. Understanding the BOFD’s presentment warranties, the paying bank’s obligations to their customers, and knowing the conditions and terms of the RDC Indemnity will help every FI understand their obligations, risks, and risk mitigation.


Speaker Bio:

Dal is a veteran of the banking business, and has held senior management positions in commercial banking and the credit union industry. His experience includes bank and branch operations, fraud and security, and training and education. Dal has served as a BSA Officer, and has expertise in compliance, product development and implementation, Check and ACH rules, regulations, and payments risk management. Dal acquired both the National Check Professional (NCP) certification and the Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) certification. Currently, Dal is Director of Education for ECCHO, a division of The Clearing House.
